Raising our puppies is a labor of love, and something we pour our hearts and souls into. We spend the first 8 weeks of their lives enriching it as much as possible to help present the puppy to its new owners in the best mental and physical condition, ready to take on the next 10-15 years as a bedside companion, show ring winner, MACH agility dog, and more!

When selecting dogs to be part of our breeding program, we stress temperament, structure, type, and health as our priorities. Each litter is decided for a specific goal in mind. We choose the best possible parents for our litters, whether within a few miles, or across the world.

Our litters are raised in our bedroom for the first few weeks of their lives, eventually becoming part of our living room area. All puppies are raised on the Super Puppy Program (ENS- Early Neurological Stimulation). We expose our litters to as much sound, smells, textures, and experiences as possible during their first couple months of life. They are also exposed to children, cats, and other livestock. The experiences that you raise your puppies on at a young age, will impact them the rest of their lives. Our commitment to the future of our dogs starts from the beginning. They are raised on a premium kibble, given shots, wormer, and microchipped. We also CERF (eye exam) all puppies at around 8 weeks of age.

Health is of most importance to us. We x-ray all of our breeding dogs through the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) for Hip Dysplasia, and Elbow Dysplasia. Our dogs are either DNA tested or clear by parentage of testing for CEA, CL, and TNS, three eye diseases that occur in border collies. Also, we perform eye checks regularly through CERF (Canine Eye Registry Foundation). A CERF exam checks tons of different eye disorders on dogs. Because some of these eye problems show up at an early age, we eye test all of our puppies around 8 weeks of age. We tend to go above and beyond than most breeders, also testing for Glaucoma predisposition (Gonioscopy), Cardiac (Heart) problems, BAER (canine hearing exam),
Imerslund-Grasbeck Syndrome (IGS) and more. Though the genetic roulette is a very complicated gene process, the more testing we do, the less of a probability that these devastating diseases will occur in our breed. If we all love this breed, we ALL need to help do what we can to make it as healthy and sound as possible!

Our pet puppies usually stay in California, so we can closely help owners in any way possible, and so we can continually evaluate the puppies we produce for the future in our breeding program. Pet pups are sold on AKC Limited Registration, with a spay/neuter contract. With limited registration they can compete in obedience, agility, herding, and other dog sports, but not conformation. We encourage limited vaccinations at their new home. We encourage ALL Kagee puppies to through at least one basic obedience or socialization class. Most puppies will go to active homes, especially preferring homes that have experience with border collies, or are active in any type of canine sport or activity.

Our show/breeding prospects are usually sold on a co-ownership contract, due to our commitment to the breed, and the ever increasing smaller gene pool in the US.

Before leaving for their new home, each puppy will start housebreaking, crate training, and clicker training for obedience.

If you have any further questions on our puppies, please feel free to e-mail us and ask! We would be glad to share!
